Manifesting,Intention,and Clothing called “DISSIPLINE”….
“Don’t back down
You gotta be a little nuts
Don’t back down
But show ‘em now who’s got guts
Don’t back down
Don’t back down from that wave”
Don’t Back Down”-The Beach Boys
The gentleman in the photo would probably use lyrics from a band named “Metallic Flaming Gophers from Hell” but it’s my blog so bite me…..
What Corey Dissin does well is motivate.
There are many people who set out to achieve a goal but many find an excuse why not to do something. Corey usually finds a way…. he does not back down. From having a full time day job to running his personal training center “Train with Corey” to being a little league coach- He does it with a smile on his face. He has launched a new clothing line called “DISSIPLINE” , fusing his last name with disipline was a great idea. I wish him luck but he doesn’t need it. He’s got plenty of “dissipline”…
So impress your friends. Piss off your mother in law and buy her one for Mother’s Day. Wear it to church. Here’s where to order - http://www.dissipline.com
“TRAIN WITH COREY” AMONG FIRST TO ACHIEVE MMA CERTIFICATION!
Many of you have heard me mention Corey Dissin. I try to surround my world with fun, innovative and motivated people. Fitness Motivator Corey Dissin is high on my list of people who help me challenge myself. he has taught me many things most importantly-
“That training the body is important- but if you neglect the spirit you will ultimately fail”
The guy’s got soul…
Train With Corey Owner and Head Fitness Motivator Corey Dissin is proud to announce both he and assistant trainer Pascal Shin, are now the first two MMACA Certified Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Coaches in Pennsylvania and are among the first ten fitness trainers to complete this particular certification IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!
The Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Association (MMACA) is the MMA certification division of NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association), an international fitness association established in 1992 which holds the prestigious NCCA national accreditation for its Personal Fitness Trainer Certification.
The MMACA was developed to bridge the gap between sports conditioning science, Mixed Martial Arts training methods, and direct application for competitive fighting. As part of the MMACA certification process, Corey and Pascal spent over 70 hours of study and completed testing in exercise physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, sports nutrition, sports psychology and conditioning program design (all as it pertains to MMA). The course also covered Olympic weightlifting techniques, powerlifting techniques, bodyweight exercises, kettlebell training and other modalities specific to MMA. Corey and Pascal now have the ability to integrate effective and proven sport-specific conditioning drills for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, boxing, Muay Thai, kick boxing, wrestling, Judo, and others into training routines currently held at the Train With Corey private fitness studio in Parkeford at Longstreth Center.
“We’re proud to have Corey as one of our initial graduates. We wish him continued success as he puts the MMACA curriculum into action,” says Dr. John Spencer Ellis, CEO of MMACA. “It is our mission to further legitimize the sport of mixed martial arts, develop high performance athletes, reduce MMA training injuries, and to share and teach the MMA training principles to the general fitness enthusiast.”
“Mixed Martial Arts is hot right now,” says Dissin, “Just look at how the UFC is exploding and how brands like Tapout and Affliction are becoming more and more mainstream. The MMA Conditioning Coach credential now allows us to confidently train our clients like a professional MMA fighter without the risks associated with actual MMA competitions. We’re looking forward to sharing what we learned with our current and future clients.”

“Training with Corey” brings Fitness Boot Camp to Pottstown!
When it came to fitness, I used to think that a good reason was all that was needed to get started. My first reason was that I was overweight. I immediately allowed myself ONLY strawberry Pop-Tarts (I was sure that blueberry was the real culprit). Another reason was that my clothes were too tight. However, I thought this was due to my better half washing my clothes in hot water. When I regained consciousness at the bottom of the stairs, she assured me that this wasn’t the case and further laundry would be done by yours truly.
Reasons weren’t going to be enough.
I needed to be motivated.
I met personal trainer Corey Dissin thru Dr. Andy Fetterman a few months ago. (Dr. Fetterman reasoned that scrapple and any flavored Pop-Tart could be contributing to my lethargy and expanding waistline). Introducing me to Mr.Dissin I made the comment, “do you like being a personal trainer?” His response was eloquent and to the point. “I look at myself as a fitness motivator“. “That’s just crazy talk” , I stammered. He invited me to find out what a fitness motivator does. I’m so glad I did.
Corey has helped me find my intensity. My sessions are always a new experience. The variety of exercises keep me from getting stuck in a rut and I feel the results. By the way if I failed to mention, I am a type 1 diabetic with hypertension. “Train with Corey” has helped those conditions as well. I’ve also decided to attend Corey’s “Fitness Boot Camp” on Saturdays starting October 3rd…..
- a fun, rapid-fire style workout with tons of super-sets, circuits, and little down time.
- a variety of calisthenics, dynamic stretching, push-ups, sit-ups, sprints, plyometrics, cardio/aerobics, etc.
- 60 minutes of POSITIVE MOTIVIATION – no drill instructor style screaming tactics.
- this is for all experience levels, from “I never exercise” all the way to “I’m a gym rat.”
- it’s a great opportunity to workout with your family or friends that you may not be able to do in the confines of a normal gym setting.
- It’s AFFORDABLE. Session packages are as low as under $13 per session.
I’m looking forward to this. Believe or not it’ll be fun!
I will also post my progress with “Train with Corey” as the weeks go by….it may not be pretty but it’ll help me stay focused.

Core Training – Variety is the Key to Fitness Results.

It’s football season. Tailgate parties, 10 cent wings and two dollar drafts on Monday nights, and 18 weeks of Sundays glued to the TV with one hand on the remote, and the other hand jockeying your favorite snack chip between guacamole and queso dip.
What better time and what better sport to help illustrate what you have to do to win the battle of the bulge. Imagine you are an offensive coordinator for your favorite team. To score points and beat your opponent, are you simply going to run the ball up the middle every play? Too many “offensive coordinators” treat their workouts this way and wonder why they are not scoring enough “touchdowns.” The same 20 minute jog on the treadmill along with 10, 8, and 6 reps of the bench press is not going to produce many game winning drives.
The team at Train With Corey firmly believes that the waistline war is best won as a war of attrition. . .with a relentless onslaught of a variety of exercises, angles, speeds, equipment, and rep ranges where every minute of the sessions are maximized. By keeping the workouts fresh each session with different exercises and techniques (everything from pilates, to boxing, to medicine ball throws plus everything in between), the muscles are isolated and confused to prevent stagnation and plateaus. So now the “runs up the middle” are accentuated with “quick slants”, “naked bootlegs,” and “deep bombs,” (sticking with the analogy) in a “hurry up offense” which results in calorie-crushing winning workouts. Let the post-game celebrations begin!
So what’s your choice? An invigorating strength and cardio challenge that changes workout to workout…

Fitness Motivator Corey Dissin

I guess you all know it’s been a long, long time
Since the days of turnin’ water to wine
Things ain’t easy, but they always improve
When you go and get your poor old body to move
“He Couldn’t Get His Poor Ol’ Body to Move”- Brian Wilson
Many people say they love to network. Many folks would love to exchange ideas. So it was great to really meet someone who is a prime example of both.
I recently did a seminar with Corey and Dr Fetterman of Creative Chiropractic Solutions. Afterwords, myself , Corey and the rest of the Creative Chiro staff got together for a brainstorming lunch. I wish I could do this every week!
When talking to Corey I was amazed at his dedication and intent. His willingness to share these qualities with others was impressive. His ability to motivate others transcends his fitness practice. He truly believes “if there is a will there is a way”.
Oh, by the way…He is a kick-ass Fitness Motivator. I use the word Motivator because only a motivator can bring you to the abyss of change and show you how to fly.

The Positive Side of Getting Sick.
Another morning at Dr. Andy’s. Our offices are next to each others and many an hour we spend talking, drinking cheap vodka juiced vegetables, and eating Hostess Ding Dongs embedded with Skittles organic bran muffins. During one of these “brainstorming” sessions I started to complain about feeling sick. My head felt like someone had used it for a cutting board and my stomach felt like vinegar and cottage cheese. Dr.Andy looked at me and said, “You know getting sick can be healthy for you”! I said “ drinking the fluid out of your ink jets can make you bald”. I didn’t think a Chiropractor could move so fast! When I awoke he said “hey, I’m being serious, I gave a lecture about this a few weeks ago.” Andy is great at what he does, education. This is an excerpt from that discussion.
Most people don’t realize that most of the chronic diseases we have today actually result from what we do on a daily basis. They are driven by how we eat, the American lifestyles we lead and our current medical practices.
In our society acute illness (colds, fevers, etc.) is viewed as a bad thing. It is almost seen as the precursor to something catastrophic: “If I get a cold, I might get worse.” Our society has gone into a perpetual state of fear. Making matters worse we are no longer taking responsibility for our health, we simply shift the blame for it to the Doctor.
Let’s discuss what actually happens when you get sick. The body encounters an invader, like a flu bug, that activates the immune system. The body then releases White Blood Cells (WBCs) that target the invaders, engulf them and then create natural antibodies that kill them. Simultaneously, the WBCs creates a copy of the invader that memorizes its properties. These allow for the body’s immune system to recognize the invader the next time the body encounters it and respond to the threat faster; lessening the amount of time your body feels sick or rundown.
In the body, there are “dis-ease” processes going on at all times. The term dis-ease is used stating there are varying degrees of sickness and wellness going on simultaneously. Your immune system is constantly fighting off invaders such as bacteria, viruses, and other forms of infections hence the varying degrees of sickness and wellness one feels. However, we don’t always express symptoms of infection such as a runny nose or cough. Symptoms can occur when the system is overloaded for too long and the body starts to break down. To use an analogy of your body as an automobile, you are driving your car and you rev the engine too high for too long, so you will eventually wear down the gaskets, burn up your oil, and warp the metal of the engine. This all leads to eventually blowing the engine. As we go about our lives and our daily business we don’t eat properly, we don’t sleep enough or correctly, we ingest too many chemicals via drugs, other cleaners and cosmetics, we don’t exercise, and we are over stressed most of the time. By doing this, eventually our bodies break down and get sick. Unfortunately, in our society we usually suppress all forms of coughs, colds, and fever that the body would use naturally for its defense and we get sick anyway.
In short, as we overload our bodies, our ability to resist sickness is reduced. This leads us to a natural process that occurs with many infections and injuries called inflammation.
Inflammation is the body’s natural response to injury or irritation that leads to symptoms of redness, pain, heat, swelling, and loss of function. It is the body’s attempt to remove harmful stimuli and heal. Inflammation is not always seen but is developing all the time. Inflammation is produced in the various systems of the body–nervous, endocrine, and digestive to name a few. The body does not always express inflammation the same way it comes into the body. Some examples of this clinically are:
Airway- Mucous buildup, Cough, Runny Noses, Sinus Issues
Intestines- Diarrhea, Acid Reflux, Indigestion, Bloating
Skin- Rash, Acne, Hives
Nervous -Irritability, Listless, “Leave Me Alone” attitude
As was mentioned earlier, we overload our systems constantly. When this happens, our ability to resist sickness decreases, our sensitivity increases, and inflammation occurs. In contrast, if we start removing these stressors, our resilience increases as well as a decrease in occurrences of inflammation.
How do we remove the stressors? We start off by no longer overloading the system chemically, physically, and emotionally. Chemically, start by changing your diet with limiting simple sugars, portion control, and quality of foods. Physically, you simply need to exercise. Move around more during the day and use ergonomics at your workplace. Emotionally, learn to de-stress. Learn how to recognize stressors as well as how to avoid and cope with them.
The basic theme is to develop a balance which ultimately will limit the amount of inflammation development. By slowing down, eating right, reducing stress and getting some exercise, one can decrease one’s susceptibility to getting sick either via a cold, runny nose, fever, or inflammation. When every system (nervous, digestive, muscular, endocrine, etc.) is balanced, you feel better and reach an optimal level of performance. When your body works at this level, you feel better and you will have a positive impact on those around you. Remember, your health affects everything you do and everyone you know
