Peter Panagore of Maine, an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, will be the speaker at the next meeting of the Virginia Beach Friends of the International Association for Near-Death Studies (VBIANDS). Rev. Panagore died of hypothermia in 1980 while ice-climbing in Canada. He separated from his physical body and entered a timeless and beautiful Void where he talked with God telepathically. Peter became agonizingly aware of his sins, but God said, I love you. I made you this way. You’re my creature; you’re forgiven.”God added, “In the same way that I love you now, I have always loved you, only you couldn’t feel it. All is well. All has been well. You just don’t know it while on earth.” Peter came away from the experience understanding that God’s love is unconditional. The experience changed Peter’s life, and changed his concepts of God, life, and death. Now he is eager to share his message about life continuing beyond the physical and about the love and greatness of God.

For Saturday’s A.R.E. meeting, a donation of $5 is suggested at the door, but no one will be turned away until capacity of the mini-auditorium is reached.

“TRAIN WITH COREY” AMONG FIRST TO ACHIEVE MMA CERTIFICATION!

coreyMany of you have heard me mention Corey Dissin. I try to surround my world with fun, innovative and motivated people. Fitness Motivator Corey Dissin is high on my list of people who help me challenge myself. he has taught me many things most importantly-

“That training the body is important- but if you neglect the spirit you will ultimately fail”

The guy’s got soul…

Train With Corey Owner and Head Fitness Motivator Corey Dissin is proud to announce both he and assistant trainer Pascal Shin, are now the first two MMACA Certified Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Coaches in Pennsylvania and are among the first ten fitness trainers to complete this particular certification IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!

The Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Association (MMACA) is the MMA certification division of NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association), an international fitness association established in 1992 which holds the prestigious NCCA national accreditation for its Personal Fitness Trainer Certification.

The MMACA was developed to bridge the gap between sports conditioning science, Mixed Martial Arts training methods, and direct application for competitive fighting. As part of the MMACA certification process, Corey and Pascal spent over 70 hours of study and completed testing in exercise physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, sports nutrition, sports psychology and conditioning program design (all as it pertains to MMA). The course also covered Olympic weightlifting techniques, powerlifting techniques, bodyweight exercises, kettlebell training and other modalities specific to MMA. Corey and Pascal now have the ability to integrate effective and proven sport-specific conditioning drills for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, boxing, Muay Thai, kick boxing, wrestling, Judo, and others into training routines currently held at the Train With Corey private fitness studio in Parkeford at Longstreth Center.mma

We’re proud to have Corey as one of our initial graduates. We wish him continued success as he puts the MMACA curriculum into action,” says Dr. John Spencer Ellis, CEO of MMACA. “It is our mission to further legitimize the sport of mixed martial arts, develop high performance athletes, reduce MMA training injuries, and to share and teach the MMA training principles to the general fitness enthusiast.”

“Mixed Martial Arts is hot right now,” says Dissin, “Just look at how the UFC is exploding and how brands like Tapout and Affliction are becoming more and more mainstream. The MMA Conditioning Coach credential now allows us to confidently train our clients like a professional MMA fighter without the risks associated with actual MMA competitions. We’re looking forward to sharing what we learned with our current and future clients.”

Dear Mr. Watterson – a cinematic exploration of Calvin & Hobbes..

calvin_hobbes_640_480There has never been a comic strip that captured my imagination like “Calvin and Hobbes” .  I would even give “Calvin and Hobbes” collections as birthday, Christmas gifts etc. Spending a quiet rainy afternoon with a PBJ reading about Spaceman Spiff or  Calvin’s transmorgrifier would melt my worries away.

Joel Schroeder has now put together a documentary film that will celebrate and explore the art and impact of Calvin & Hobbes, created by Bill Watterson…..

About this project

Calvin & Hobbes dominated the comics in thousands of newspapers for over ten years, having a profound effect on millions of readers across the globe. When the strip’s creator, Bill Watterson, retired the strip on New Year’s Eve in 1995, devoted readers everywhere felt the void left by the departure of Calvin, Hobbes, and Watterson’s other cast of characters, and many fans would never find a satisfactory replacement.

It has now been more than a decade since the end of the Calvin & Hobbes era. Bill Watterson has kept an extremely low profile during this time, living a very private life outside of Cleveland, Ohio. Despite his quiet lifestyle, Mr. Watterson is remembered and appreciated daily by fans who still enjoy his amazing collection of work.

Mr. Watterson has inspired and influenced millions of people through Calvin & Hobbes. Newspaper readership and book sales can be tracked and recorded, but the human impact he has had and the value of his art are perhaps impossible to measure.wattersonrare

Dear Mr. Watterson is a film that will look to the readers and fans of Calvin & Hobbes to tell the story of the strip and its creator. As we explore the art and impact of Bill Watterson through this unique perspective, the undying appreciation and love of Calvin & Hobbes and the man behind it will be evident in the anecdotes, stories, and memories shared by readers of the strip and friends and colleagues of Mr. Watterson.

While the crew has been donating their time to make this project happen, we’ll be taking several trips to conduct interviews and collect footage, so the costs of air tickets, rental cars, meals, and motel stays will add up. If we raise our minimum goal of $12,000 all at once through Kickstarter, we’ll be able to move forward on this film with less of a funding hurdle, and the more we raise on top of that, the more we can do with the film, and the faster we can do it.

So many people have expressed such gratitude to us for making this film, and in turn, I have great appreciation for those of you who are able to support us in this endeavor.

Thank you so much for helping us reach $12,000. With so much time left, let’s see if we can double that!

YOU Are The Law of Attraction!

lawofattraction-main_FullHave you been struggling to get the Law of Attraction to work for you?  Do you feel like you must have some severe inner blockages that prevent you from attracting the things you really want into your life?

One possible stumbling block you might encounter is the temptation to view the Law of Attraction as some mystical power greater than yourself.  Do you often feel like you’re “begging” the universe to deliver your desires?  Do you worry that you’re not “good enough” and your requests will be denied?  Do you believe that you have to behave in a certain way for the universe to deem you worthy of what you want?

This kind of thinking can create big problems because it automatically disconnects you from your own inner power!

It’s important to understand that the universe only mirrors back whatever you express to it:

- The universe is not withholding the things you want – YOU ARE!

- The universe is not blessing you with joy and abundance – YOU ARE!

- The universe isn’t causing things to go wrong in your life – YOU ARE!

- The universe isn’t forcing you to remain in difficult circumstances – YOU ARE!

- The universe isn’t doubting your creative power – YOU ARE!

It ALL comes from within you, because YOU are the Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction works according to your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and expectations!  If you’re not yet living the life you want to live, you’re probably not putting out the right signal to bring it forth.

Which leads us to the million-dollar question:  how do you use the Law of Attraction to stop experiencing the stuff you don’t want, and begin attracting the stuff you DO want?

First, take some time to get clear about what you really want.  Not what you think you can get; not what you’re willing to settle for; not what other people have said you can have – but what YOU want!  If you could create anything at all right now, what would it be?  Write it down in minute detail.

Then, begin focusing on that quality or experience as often as you can – FROM the perspective of already having it.  How would you feel if you already had exactly what you wanted?  Here are a few possibilities:  you might feel calm, content, happy, joyful, grateful, blessed, excited, or relieved.  Several times a day, bring that quality or essence to mind and allow yourself to FEEL exactly as you would if you already had it.  Imagine that you do have it, and get your positive emotions flowing as powerfully as you can!  Let feelings of awe, joy, excitement, and gratitude take over your entire body.  Let them flow over and through you until you’re nearly buzzing with ecstasy!

Finally, begin shifting your attention away from things you don’t want.  This is easier said than done, granted.  But it’s SO necessary if you want to stop attracting more of it into your life!  Learn how to detach emotionally from problems, upheavals and difficult people you encounter.  In essence, try ignoring them as much as you can, even if you have to engage in some self-talk like this, “I’m not going to get upset because I choose to direct my energy toward more positive things.”  It will take practice, but eventually you’ll be able to consciously CHOOSE where to flow your energy – toward the good stuff!

If you can do these three things on a consistent basis, you’ll be blown away by the results!  Miracles and opportunities will come flowing into your life in a great rush of joy – and you’ll finally realize that YOU held the power all along.  You didn’t have to wait for someone or something else to decide the direction your life would go – you just needed to remember that YOU are the Law of Attraction.

To learn how to channel YOUR Law of Attraction, contact me to schedule an Intuitive Life Coaching Session. May the Joy be with you ~

Anthem Blue Cross May Raise Rates after Record Profits?

36-1Blue Cross has just announced that it’s immediately raising premiums charged to hundreds of thousands of individual customers by as much as 39%—even though their parent company’s profits soared to a record $4.7 billion last year.2

Even worse, the insurer has so far refused to explain why they’re increasing their rates, and warned that they might do so again this year without warning.

The Obama administration is demanding answers from Anthem Blue Cross, and Congress has opened an investigation.3 But Blue Cross is only going to respond if this story becomes a major public-relations problem for them.

So it’s time to turn up the heat. Let’s join the growing call for an explanation and send a powerful public message that these abuses by Big Insurance are unacceptable.

http://pol.moveon.org/bluecross/?rc=taf_kicker&id=18943-11381997-P6nhw_x&t=3

The petition says: “Anthem Blue Cross must provide a detailed explanation for their exorbitant rate increases, or else roll them back immediately.”

These latest rate increases in California—reportedly the largest ever by Blue Cross for individual policyholders in the state—are yet another powerful example of how badly broken our health care system is and how desperately we need to hold Big Insurance accountable for exploiting their customers.

Anthem Blue Cross’s parent company made record profits last year despite losing 1.4 million customers—increasing their profit margins by cherrypicking the healthiest people to insure.4

Then they can turn around and dramatically increase the rates they charge to the customers they’ve kept, because there are almost no rules governing rate increases. In fact, the company doesn’t even have to publicly reveal how many customers’ rates they’ve increased, or by how much.

The good news is that Kathleen Sebelius, President Obama’s Secretary of Health and Human Services, is already publicly demanding answers from the company. And the House Energy and Commerce Committee has announced plans to hold hearings to investigate.

But to get Anthem to clean up their act—and show politicians and the media that we can’t afford any more abuses by Big Insurance—we all need to lend our voices. Will you sign the petition?

The Devil in the Details – Heath Care Reform Bill.

Hi little girl, it’s me – don’t you know who I am?health
I met you last summer when I came up to stay with my Gram
I’m the guy-uy-uy who left you with tears in his eyes
You didn’t answer my letters, so I figured it was just a li-i-i-i-ie

“Girl Don’t Tell Me” – The Beach Boys

The health care debate has so many moving parts that it’s hard for anybody to keep them straight. So we decided to put together an overview of where we’re at—both good and bad—and what we’re all going to need to keep fighting for.

Neither of these bills is close to perfect. But we’re entering the home stretch where we risk losing a lot of what’s good in these bills and where we have a huge opportunity to strengthen the parts that need work.

Here’s where we are:

The House of Representatives passed their bill last month. The Senate is aiming to pass its version before Christmas.

Overall, both pieces of legislation would do four major things:

* Create a “Health Insurance Exchange.” The bills create a one-stop marketplace where people can choose from various insurance plans, including the public option. The details aren’t set yet, but initially the Exchange would likely be open to the self-employed, people without insurance at work, and small businesses.1 The key with the Exchange is that it brings “the bargaining power and scale that’s generally accessible only to large employers” to individuals—and with that, lower costs and better options.2

* Provide insurance to over 30 million more people. The House bill would expand coverage to 36 million people by 2019. The Senate bill extends coverage to 31 million.3

* Outlaw discrimination based on pre-existing conditions and gender. Insurance companies will have to stop denying coverage to people with “pre-existing conditions.” And they won’t be allowed to charge women more than men for the same coverage.4

* Eliminate coverage limits and price-gouging. The bills differ on some details, but in general would place limits on how much people have to pay for health care beyond their premiums. They both cap out-of-pocket costs and ban insurance companies from setting limits on how much health care they’ll cover for a person each year.5

batgirl

Of course, the devil is in the details, and much in these bills still needs work.

Here’s what still needs to be fixed:

* Both bills leave millions uninsured. The House bill leaves 18 million without insurance in 2019; the Senate bill, 24 million. Neither comes close to the vision for universal coverage so many of us fought for for years. We’ll all need to fight to continue to expand coverage in the bills this year, and in the years to come.6

* The Senate public option is weak, and conservatives are pushing to make it weaker. The public option is a core piece of reform that will create real accountability and competition for private insurance—and that’s why it’s at the center of such a huge fight. While the House bill creates a national public option, the Senate lets states opt out, denying their residents access to it. Plus, conservatives are working to weaken it even more. We’re all going to have to fight hard for the strongest version possible.7

* Many reforms don’t start quickly enough. While some pieces of reform go into effect right away, the larger structural changes are not scheduled to go into effect until 2013 (House bill) or 2014 (Senate bill). This includes the Exchange, the public option, and subsidies—the major ways coverage will be expanded.8

* Required insurance could still be too expensive for many. Both bills require virtually all Americans to have insurance. But the caps on how much we’re expected to pay are way too high, and the subsidies are way too low. Many progressives are working to fix this, but it’s going to be a significant fight.9

* Reproductive rights are severely restricted in the House bill. An egregious anti-choice amendment in the bill virtually prohibits anyone purchasing insurance in the Exchange from buying a plan that covers abortion—even if paid for with their own money. We need to make sure the final bill doesn’t include this rollback of reproductive rights.10

* The Senate bill could discriminate against lower income workers. The current Senate legislation retains a version of what’s called the “free rider” provision, which essentially penalizes employers for hiring lower income workers. This provision needs to be fixed before the bill is finalized.11

There’s a lot going on in these bills, and we’re all going to need to be vigilant to ensure the good pieces end up in the final bill, and the bad ones are fixed. It’s going to be a rocky ride. But if we fight together, we’ll come out stronger in the end.

Author Sharing Hope for the Holidays with New Book titled They’re Not Gone.

Phoenixville, PA – November 10, 2009 – Author,  A.P. Morris, is releasing a non-fiction book, They’re Not Gone, to coincide with the holiday season.

cover_blogThey’re Not Gone shares stories of 13 people whose loved ones passed away and their eventual ‘reconnection’ through the assistance of local Psychic Medium, Ricky Wood. Each story contains ‘evidence’ that their spirits are still very much alive.  Wood delivers specifics from names and dates to mannerisms and jokes to verify the spirit who is communicating.

“I wanted to share my story to give others hope, especially during the holiday season when missing them can be even more difficult.  I am now 100% positive that our loved ones don’t vanish with death, they are still very much alive,” Morris said.

A.P. Morris’s story in the book tells of the loss of her brother to suicide when she was just 16 years old.  After hearing from him through Psychic medium Ricky Wood, her life was transformed. Ricky Wood referred to a nickname of her brother’s that she had never told a soul about, allowing her to know definitively that he was still ‘alive.’

“I spent so many holiday seasons sad and depressed because I missed my brother so desperately.  If I’d only known that he wasn’t just gone, I think it may have been a whole lot easier for me,” A.P. Morris, author, said.

Each story offers a different type of love, loss, and lesson. Whether you’ve lost a child, spouse, parent, or great friend, there is a relationship that everyone can relate with.  Following each story, there is a question and answer section where the reader gets to learn more about Ricky’s beliefs based on his years of experience working as a Psychic Medium.

“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to share some amazing true life stories.  The information contained in this book could change so many people’s lives.  I know – it changed mine,” Morris said.amy bw

A.P. Morris feels that it was easier for her to believe in the continued existence of our spirits after she received ‘proof.’  Her hope is that by sharing these stories it will bring peace to many people’s lives, especially during this holiday season.

On December 2, 2009 you can purchase a copy of the book “They’re Not Gone,” for just $16.95 by visiting www.Amazon.com or www.theyrenotgone.com .

Will the Senate consider a Public Health Option?

tn_supe-vs-captmarvelThis is where the rubber meets the road. After months of delay, the full Senate is about to debate and vote on landmark health care legislation. But first, Senator Harry Reid and Democratic leaders have a big decision to make:

Will the Senate consider real health care reform with a public health insurance option, or a watered-down compromise full of giveaways to Big Insurance?

This is a hugely important decision. Progressive champions in Congress are standing strong for the public option and Sen. Reid himself has expressed support—but he’s under immense pressure from a few conservative obstructionists who oppose it.

We need to send a loud signal: If Sen. Reid leads on the public option, we’ll be there to get his back. Can you sign our petition asking him to include a strong public health insurance option in the Senate’s bill?

The petition reads: “Senator Reid, real health care reform must include a strong public health insurance option. Please include the public option in the bill you bring to the Senate floor.”

The headlines today are about a flawed bill without a public option that a few conservative Democrats managed to push through the Senate Finance Committee.

But the overwhelming majority of Democrats in Congress continue to support the public option—as does President Obama, and two-thirds of the American public.1 And just last week 30 Democratic senators wrote to Sen. Reid urging him to include the public option.2

nvreidReid has been supportive: earlier this month, he said “I believe the public option is so vitally important to create a level playing field and prevent the insurance companies from taking advantage of us.”3

In other words, we’re closer than ever to winning real health care reform. But we’ve got to raise our voices now to make sure the public option gets through the Senate.
